Tooth Bonding Southside Indianapolis, IN

Tooth Bonding An Overview

Tooth bonding is an economical solution for a wide range of both cosmetic and dental health-related concerns. Suitable for patients of all ages, tooth bonding is a relatively simple procedure that is completed in one visit.

Paradox Dental offers tooth bonding and the experienced care of Southside Indianapolis IN dentists, Drs. Carole and Robin Thoman. We can restore your oral health or make over the appearance of your smile with beautiful results. We may recommend tooth bonding to treat:

  • Chipped teeth: tooth chips, especially in younger patients can be effectively repaired with composite resin bonding materials.
  • Discolored tooth: if a single tooth or several teeth are discolored or considered resistant to teeth whitening products, tooth bonding materials can be color matched to your smile.
  • Exposed tooth roots, decay: similar in many ways to a dental filling, a tooth bonding procedure may be recommended for areas of decay including exposed tooth roots that can become sensitive.
  • Gaps between teeth: for small spaces between teeth that are impacting the aesthetics of your smile, tooth bonding can be used to close the gap.

Tooth bonding is frequently recommended when addressing these concerns in a child or teen. Tooth bonding is a great alternative to more expensive and invasive options such as porcelain veneers.

Tooth Bonding What to Expect

The tooth bonding procedure is completed in our office with most patients finding they are kept comfortable using a local anesthetic to numb the general area. Dr. Robin or Dr. Carole Thoman will prepare the tooth or teeth to be treated by carefully removing a very small amount of tooth surface in a process called etching. The tiny grooves made in the tooth enamel will allow the composite to be secured in place and to adhere to the tooth. A special liquid is applied to the surface to stabilize and adhere the resin material.

We will color match the material to your natural smile and then gently sculpt it into place, making adjustments for fit, comfort, and appearance. Once complete, the resin will be hardened into place using a special laser light. The final step is to polish the surface so that the new material will blend with your smile.

How long does tooth bonding last?

Tooth bonding can last for up to 10 years, sometimes longer with good oral hygiene and preventive dental care. It is always recommended that you get your bonded tooth checked periodically by your dentist in Southside Indianapolis, IN.
