Why choose Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers can be used to treat a range of needs, both cosmetic and dental health related. They can provide results that are either subtle or dramatic, depending on your goals. They can be used for:

  • Discolored teeth
  • A crooked or twisted tooth
  • Damaged teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Uneven teeth

What are porcelain veneers made from?

Porcelain veneers are made from a high-quality ceramic material. Ultra-thin, the ceramic shells are created using the exact specifications and color-matching that we provide to the dental lab for a customized result. The material reflects light like natural tooth enamel, allowing your new veneers to blend with your smile and look as if they have always been there. Porcelain is also highly durable and stain resistant, important qualities in the creation of a lasting new smile that will feel and function like natural teeth.

Are porcelain veneers permanent?

Porcelain veneers are considered a permanent restoration because of the amount of tooth enamel that is removed for placement. With proper care, your veneers can last for many years, and we can replace a damaged veneer when necessary to maintain the look of your smile.

Everyone should have a dental practice like this one! Everyone is helpful and kind. Questions are answered, procedures explained, no rushed feeling here. The cleaning and X-rays were done gently. Costs for services are very reasonable.Dianne J.

Porcelain Veneers What to Expect

The placement of porcelain dental veneers will take place over a series of 2-3 visits. The first step is to prepare the teeth by gently removing a small amount of the surface enamel, enough to allow for a secure and stable fit.

Next, dental impressions will be taken of the teeth for use in creating your new veneers. These will be sent to a dental lab where the veneers will be made along with other unique specifications for color and shape provided by Dr. Robin or Dr. Carole Thoman. We will place temporary veneers while you wait for normal aesthetics and function.

Once the new veneers are ready, you will return for the final placement. We will work with you during this appointment to ensure that the veneers fit comfortably and meet your cosmetic goals when it comes to the appearance of your new smile. We will use a special laser light to permanently secure the veneers to the teeth and polish the surface for a smooth texture.

How do I care for porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers can be cared for like your natural teeth: daily brushing and flossing and routine dental care. We will monitor the condition of your veneers at regular dental checkups to alert you to any damage that should be addressed promptly. Although they are more stain resistant than natural teeth, your veneers can be kept looking their best by avoiding common things that can stain or darken their appearance such as teas, coffee and red wine.
